Employee gone crazyThe manager of a grocery store in the 1600 block of West Dravus Street was called to the front of the store at 5 a.m., Nov. 23 because an employee was causing a scene. A witness told the manager the employee had been verbally abusing one of the checkers and was throwing food around the store.

Burning CarOn Dec. 1, an officer responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in the middle of a park located on the 2800 block of First Avenue West at 6:36 a.m. When the officer arrived he noticed smoke coming from inside the car. He opened the door and saw that the vehicle was filled with smoke.There was nobody inside the car. The officer notified the Seattle Fire Department. The fire department responded, putting out the fire. Firefighters determined the fire was set intentionally. The vehicle was impounded and a hold was put in place for further investigation.

While Queen and Magnolia parents may be excited to have an option school in their neighborhood, what option they'll have exactly remains to be determined. But the district is making headway in creating a design team to determine the fate of Old Hay.

Message of good health: Keep paying it forward

I love Gladys. Gladys is one of my greatest success stories in a personal mission of mine that began in the year 2000. You may remember the movie with Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt that tells the story of a young boy, Trevor McKinney, played by Haley Joel Osment, who tries to make a positive difference in the lives of three complete strangers in response to a school assignment named "Pay It Forward."
