Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks has closed its Interbay location, and there’s no word yet on what’s next for the space at 1609 W. Dravus St.
In an email to the Queen Anne & Magnolia News, the company called it a difficult decision, “as we continue to take steps to make sure we’re meeting customer’s needs,” but said all employees were transferred to nearby locations.
“In Seattle (and all markets) we’re constantly looking across our store portfolio to make sure we’re offering a breadth of experiences for our customers,” the email reads. “From time to time we make adjustments to make sure we’re providing the right blend of both convenient and premium options to choose from. Nowhere does this show up more clearly than in Seattle where our stores can feature the convenience of the core Starbucks menu, our immersive coffee bars and the premium Starbucks Roastery on Capitol Hill. We look forward to continuing to offer these experiences to our customers in Seattle and look forward to continuing to serve them at nearby locations.”
It’s unclear what comes next for the location, but according to property records, the building was sold in December to Six to One, LLC (incorporated that same month), for $875,000. The building had been listed at $799,950, according to documents advertising the property prepared by Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices Northwest.
Those documents also noted more than $500,000 in renovations were made to the building in 1999 — in addition to continued maintenance — and upcoming developments that will bring 500-plus commuters and shoppers to the area.
The nearest Starbucks to the now-shuttered spot are in Magnolia Village (3300 W. McGraw St.), just south of the Magnolia Bridge (1144 Elliott Ave. W.), or in Queen Anne (2135 Queen Anne Ave. N.).
