Lois Elizabeth Thompson July 1, 1918 – April 16, 2016

Lois Elizabeth Thompson, our sweet “Mama,” passed away early April 16, 2016 with her loving daughters by her side. She was 97 years old and resided at Bayview Manor on Queen Anne for the past 16 years. Lois was beautiful with lots of style and grace. With all her charm, she also was funny with an engaging, vivacious personality, full of love, especially for children.
Lois was born in Wheaton, Minnesota on July 1, 1918 and raised in Thief River Falls. She attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. and graduated from the National College of Education. She married Dean Thompson and raised three daughters on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. Lois taught school for 25 years at Magnolia Elementary. Sewing for her girls, playing piano, and filling their home with music were her joys.
After retirement in 1978, Lois and Dean enjoyed traveling the world. They also served at Gethsemane Lutheran Church where they attended for over 50 years.
Lois was preceded in death by husband, Dean in 2000. She was the last survivor of the Nelson family. She leaves a devoted family: Caryl Deane Thompson (Carlos), Betty Block (Steve) and Barbara Clark (Bob); five grandchildren: Juliet de la Huerga, Nikki Block, Nathan Block (Mandy), Ashley Brendle (Eric) , Bobi Rey (Jill) and 15 great-grandchildren. Aunty Lolo also has many devoted nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 pm on Thursday, July 21, at Bayview Manor, 11 West Aloha, Seattle, WA 98119. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to New Horizons Ministries (PO Box 2801, Seattle, WA 98111). Arrangements entrusted to Bleitz Funeral Home.
