Interbay football, cheer registration open

Kids interested in joining the football team or cheerleading squad for the fall season can register now to play with the Interbay Eagles (www.seattleinterbayfootball.org).

Kids between the ages of 6 and 14 may join one of six youth football teams. There will also be one cheer squad for kids ages 8 to 13.

The Eagles’ recruiting zone spans from the Lake Washington Ship Canal, south to Yesler Way, and from Lake Washington to Puget Sound.

The football teams will begin practice on Aug. 3, five days a week, from 5 to 7 p.m., through the end of the month, decreasing to three days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) during the school year, with games on Saturdays.

Practices take place at Interbay Field (3027 17th Ave. W.), across from QFC, off West Dravus Street.

Players are required to have football cleats, a mouth guard, white practice pants and a cup; everything else will be provided.

The Eagles are members of the Northwest Junior Football League, which has more than 50 youth teams. For more information or to register, go to www.seattleinterbayfootball.org.
