Great historical article on Dec. 31, about the Croatian families that immigrated to the Seattle area (“The Croatians of Seattle’s Interbay district”).
My great-grandfather came to West Seattle from the island of Zlarin, Croatia, and had his own fishing vessel here in Seattle named the “Montana” and a few others after that.
The maritime history of Seattle is fantastic (I’ve been in the maritime industry for 10 years now), and it doesn’t get enough credit.
