Slide the City will not hit the streets of Seattle, Spokane and Tri- Cities with its giant water slide this summer but, instead, next summer.
The state and King County health departments told event organizers they could not accommodate the event this year due to increased permit requests.
The Seattle event was to take place Sunday, Aug. 16, in Queen Anne.
Slide the City organizers say they hope to work with local businesses and vendors in the upcoming months to increase community involvement for next year’s event.
Slide the City has had events in more than 30 states and in multiple countries around the world since it started in 2014. People age 5 and older who are at least 46 inches tall were invited to play on the giant three-lane slide, which is reportedly longer than three football fields.
