Gates Foundation wins top design award

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation campus (500 Fifth Ave. N.) won the top award, the Award of Excellence in the General Design category, in the American Society of Landscape Architects’ (ASLA) 2014 Professional Awards and Student Awards.

Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, based in Belltown, designed the Gates Foundation campus.

The awards honor top public, commercial, residential, institutional, planning, communications and research projects from across the United States and around the world.

The October issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine featured the winning projects.

The awards will be presented at the ASLA annual meeting and EXPO in Denver on Monday, Nov. 24.
