Two elections forums next week

League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County is presenting two forums next week featuring the state and county ballot measures and the mayoral candidates.

On Monday, Sept. 30, incumbent Mayor Mike McGinn and challenger Sen. Ed Murray will share their priorities on historic preservation, public art, art education, urban design and other topics. The candidates forum will take place at the Cornish Playhouse lobby (formerly Intiman Theater, 401 Mercer St.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

On Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m., pro and con speakers will present their sides on four state and county ballot measures: Initiative 517 (about initiatives and signature gathering), Initiative 522 (about labeling of genetically-modified foods), Proposition 1 (about EMS-Medic One levy) and the King County Charter Amendment (about the Office of Public Defense).

The event will take place at Seattle First Baptist Church (1111 Harvard Ave., at Seneca St.).
