Rose Hill Elementary School opens doors to new school

Rose Hill Elementary is very excited to open the doors to our new school bright and early on Sept. 5 at 8:25 a.m. August has been a month of preparations on our campus. Many of the staff, students, former students and families watched nostalgically as our 52-year-old building was dismantled.

The school district informed us that we set a record for storage trailers - 14, to be exact! After the trailers were emptied, we began the challenge of finding that "perfect place" for all of our belongings.

One of the priorities of our community design team was to build a school that fit into our neighborhood and reflected its child centered and playful personality. Therefore, have you wondered, as you drove by, what significance that the black and white bricks represent? Hint ...Rosie and Rocky Raccoon are our school mascots.

Rose Hill Elementary was designed to provide an optimum learning environment for students. We are equipped with the latest technology to support learning such as ActivBoards and document cameras in each classroom. We also have a specifically designed room for art and science.

Mosaic mural

Another exciting addition for Rose Hill Elementary will greet you as you enter the lobby - a beautiful mosaic glass art piece created by Mauricio Robalino, a Peruvian-born artist. Earlier this spring, Mauricio spent several weeks at our school working with individual classes on a semi-permanent art piece which will be displayed in the school later on this fall.

Save the evening of Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. for our grand opening celebration. Come see our new building, come visit our classrooms and enjoy the music of the Bochinche band on our new performing stage. We look forward to welcoming our community.
