Police Blotter 7/29

Marking their territory

In the 2500 block of First W., multiple residents have discovered that someone has keyed their cars. The link to the cases?

It seems that the gouges appear only after the cars have parked in front of one particular house.

On 34th W, a resident called 911 to report that her husband had come home, poured a beer over her, threw her papers on the ground and hit her in the head with an empty beer can.

Unreasonable with officers (their report states that she appeared under the influence of drugs or alcohol), she accused them of "taking his side" when they suggested she get a court order against him. A search for the suspect was unsuccessful.

Guilty party(er)

Late Monday, July 13, at 20th and Dravus streets, an under-ager panicked when he saw a patrol car parked outside a convenience store where he had been trying to buy alcohol.

The officers weren't on the case-they just happened to be in the area. But the young man felt stupid and was apologetic about his misdeed. Officers confiscated his fake ID and released him.

Multitasker

Overnight on the July 11, in the 3200 block of Conkling Pl. W., someone not only prowled a car, but they rifled through the glove box and threw papers all over the ground, went into the backyard of a residence and removed a basement window screen. No one was injured and no suspects were seen.

Unwelcome visitor

Late Monday, the 13th, in the 300 block of W. Smith, a young woman had just gone to bed in the upper level of her home when she and her roommate heard noises below. They thought it was just their downstairs roommates until they heard footsteps coming up the stairs and saw a light go on. When one called out "Hey," the two heard the sounds of someone beating a fast retreat. Investigating, they found a door to an alley wide open and an Ipod missing. Officers responded but had no luck tracking down a suspect.

Theft

Overnight between July 11-12, someone stole a bicycle from a yard in the 1700 block of 2nd N.

Tale of mystery

Early on Thursday July 16, officers were called to the area of W. Kinnear Pl and First W. after 911 received numerous reports of a man yelling. It turns out the agitated fellow's wallet was missing.

Unfortunately he couldn't get his story straight with officers: He provided five versions of a robbery, which varied in the number of people who had attacked him (sometimes four; sometimes eight) and where the incident had occurred.

Though he said the suspects had escaped in a vehicle, he couldn't describe it. In the end, he told officers to leave him alone...that he hadn't called 911 and didn't need their help.

Just for kicks

Just before midnight on the 16th, a "heavily intoxicated" man dressed in black smashed in the entry glass at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Queen Anne Ave. N. He got inside but witnesses were unclear about his intentions. An area check proved unproductive.

Threats

In a home on 13th Avenue West, a woman states that a jealous male friend came to her home early Tuesday, July 14, drank to excess, and ripped apart her son's bedroom. (The boy wasn't there at the time.) The suspect then grabbed her by the throat, slapped her in the face, and declared that he was going to get a gun from his house and shoot her in the head.

There is no history of violence between the two. The victim was provided with domestic violence information, and she told the officer that she wants to press charges.

No gold watch?

Earlier this month, after a phone call from his bank, a Queen Anne business owner discovered that a former employee had apparently given herself a goodbye present: a $453 check drawn against the business account.
