Ling's compelling stories inspire listeners to act

Sharing gritty stories of Level 5 prison visits, the most violent gangs in the world and the heartwrenching introductions between American parents and their adopted Chinese children, journalist Lisa Ling captivated her audience Sunday night at Benaroya Hall.

Ling, who hosts "Explorer" on the National Geographic channel, was touring in support of her book "Mother, Daughter, Sister, Bride." She spoke about her life in journalism and how by sticking to the notion that people do want to know hard truths, her career has flourished. She urged that Americans stay informed about goings on in the world.

Between her two shows in Seattle, Ling told "The News" that she and her husband ate several dozen oysters at The Brooklyn.[[In-content Ad]]
