Laura Hamilton (August 9, 1908 - August 2, 2013)

Laura Hamilton, an eighty-nine year resident of Queen Anne Hill, died August 2, 2013; one week before her 105th birthday.
Laura Neoma Ashley was born in Chrisman, Illinois on August 9, 1908.  She lived in Chrisman with her mother and older brother until the spring of 1917 when they moved to Great Falls, Montana.  Their next – and final – move was to Queen Anne Hill in the summer of 1924 where she entered Queen Anne High School as a junior.  She was in the graduating class of 1926.
On the first Friday night of May, 1928, she met Leslie Hamilton, also a 1926 Q. A. grad.; they were married May 29, 1930 and enjoyed 53 years together, always with a Queen Anne Hill address, until his death in 1983 and hers in August this year.
Because of their long-time Q.A. residency, they had a natural interest in the changes that occurred on the hill.  The March 27, 1979 Queen Anne News included an article detailing the historic research, done by Laura, and photography, done by Leslie, of Queen Anne Hill’s evolution.  The result of their work is a several volume collection given to the Queen Anne Historic Society and stored at Bayview Manor in the Society’s office located there.
Laura is survived by her son, Jim, also of Queen Anne Hill, and a daughter, Anne Stern, of Bainbridge Island, as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Another daughter, Elva Sanders preceded her in death.[[In-content Ad]]
