'Friends' announce grants for Seattle Public Library

The Friends celebrated Friends of Libraries USA's third annual "National Friends of Libraries Week" late last month and president Mimi Winslow introduced the 2008 grants Winslow also thanked the many volunteers and members of the Friends for their efforts in volunteering at the bi-annual Book Sale and the FriendShop at Central.

This year the Friends' grants total $110,000. The funds were raised through the twice yearly Book Sale and the FriendShop in the Central Library. In 2009 The Seattle Public Library will receive $77,000 for teen programming, the Adult Summer Reading Program and system-wide programming and outreach activities. The Seattle Public Library Foundation will receive $33,000 for The Wallace Endowment Challenge for Cultural Programming.[[In-content Ad]]
