Former editor Myke Folger and columnist Matt Willemski win SPJ awards

Two Pacific Publishing Co. writers were recognized at the recent 2010 Society of Professional Journalists’ Northwest Excellence in Journalism banquet.

Matthew Wilemski won first place in the General Column–Non-Daily Newspapers category for his “Roundabout” columns “The Wheels on the Metro Bus Go Round and Round,” “To Vote or Not to Vote” and “Helping Our Veterans Could Help Unite America.”

Former Queen Anne/Magnolia News editor Myke Folger received second place in the General News–Non-Daily Newspapers category for his “A Death in Question” series, about the police-shooting death of Native American woodcarver John T. Williams.

The awards banquet took place at Safeco Field on Saturday, May 21. Congratulations to the winners.
