Event to focus on Seattle's future

The City of Seattle and the Seattle Art Museum are collaborating for Big Ideas - Imagining Seattle’s Future, 2035 & Beyond. The event will include presentations by leaders from Seattle’s innovationand creation community to explore shared visions for Seattle’s future. These would, in turn, inspire Seattle 2035, a year-long, city-wide conversation to guide the update of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

The event will take place Thursday, Jan. 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the PACCAR Pavilion at the Olympic Sculpture Park (2901 Western Ave.). An open house ahead of the event, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., will feature information about the Comprehensive Plan and Seattle’s growth over the last 20 years.

Seattle 2035 will shape the update of the Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year vision and roadmap for Seattle’s future, through meetings, discussions and other events to share information. It guides city decisions on where growth (jobs and housing) occurs, how to improve our transportation system and where investment in utilities, sidewalks and libraries will be needed.

Seattle 2035 is the first major update of Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan since 2004 and is required by the Washington State Growth Management Act.
