Drug-Free World volunteers offer free education materials

Volunteers with the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, sponsored by Queen Anne’s Church of Scientology, fanned out across Seattle Center the last week in June to distribute 550 copies of “The Truth About Marijuana” booklets in recognition of the United Nation’s annual International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The United Nations designated June 26 each year for individuals and groups to hold events, seminars and other activities to heighten awareness of drug abuse throughout the world.

“The Truth About Marijuana” booklet is just one of 13 booklets the foundation produces covering a wide array of drugs and their side-effects. It was distributed locally to help educate the public on the effects of marijuana use, given the recent legalization of the drug in our state. More than 20,000 drug education materials have been distributed in Washington state by local volunteers in the last three years.
