Carol Joan Horton

August 21, 1928 - March 23, 2025

Carol Joan Doherty-Horton passed away March 23, 2025 of natural causes. She was 96. She was born in Riverside California Aug 21, 1928. Carol was an extremely active and social person and participated in activities like tennis and golf most of her life. At the age of 94 she took up knitting. She was an avid gardener and very active in the Church of the Ascension in Magnolia. Carol distinguished herself as a Gray Lady volunteer for the Red Cross for 52 years in Japan (working with returning military casualties from Korea), and in Germany and Seattle.
Among her many talents Carol also was an accomplished violinist in her youth and attained the title of Concert Mistress throughout her career. She also enjoyed the theatre and symphony.
She was preceded in death in 1983 by her husband of 30 years, Major Murray E. Horton, Ret.
She is survived by sons Michael of Chatsworth, CA, Gary of Victor, CO, and Hollie Sanders of Kent, WA. She also is survived by 5 grandchldren and 8 great-grandchildren.
