On June 7, dozens of families walked along Queen Anne Avenue for the Queen Anne Elementary School Art Walk. For the event, titled “Postcards from Queen Anne,” 11 host businesses along the Ave displayed art from students at Queen Anne Elementary depicting scenes from the neighborhood.
Walk participants visited the host businesses to view the art and stamp their “passports.” Those who completed their passports - getting a stamp from each business - were rewarded with a prize: a multicolored pen.
The event was the brainchild of Queen Anne Elementary art teacher, Lauren Appel, with support from the Queen Anne Community Council and the Queen Anne Chamber. The event was a success with a great turnout, sunny weather, and new connections made between local businesses and neighborhood residents.
The Art Walk would not have been possible without the generous volunteers: Caroline Davis, Carol Olwell, and Laura Corvi; and host businesses: Queen Anne Frame & Gift (who provided mats), Queen Caphe, Vixen Collection, Storied at Home, Queen Anne Book Co., Just Poke, Avenue Orthodontics, Vitality Medispa, La Pasta, Bethany Presbyterian Church, and Wag N’ Wash.
