Wolf Geide is 11 years old and just graduated from Queen Anne Elementary School. But before the annual graduation celebration, QAE had a special assembly when Wolf was inducted into Washington’s AAA Safety Patrol Hall of Fame. The Safety Patrol is made up of student patrollers from across the country- and throughout the world- who provide an extra layer of safety and security as students go to and from their schools each day.

This program is celebrating their centennial anniversary. And each year, representatives from AAA Washington, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Evergreen Safety Council, and the Washington Traffic Safety Commission come together to choose ten top patrollers for induction into the AAA Washington School Safety Patrol Hall of Fame.

“Wolf has exhibited exemplary patrol behavior, knowledge and responsibility,” said School Safety Patrol Advisor, Josie Haley. “He is always a friendly and responsible patroller!”

It all started when Wolf stumbled into the end of the year party for last year’s Safety Patrol and it turned into a great leadership opportunity. “I love helping other people in my community all the time,” said Wolf. He reported that there is a schedule for which days to come in early and he gets his hat, vest, and flag, then heads out to help kids get safely across the street.

“One time, it was complete chaos with cars everywhere and drivers I have dealt with before. I just had to make sure that the kids got across the street safe!” Wolf said.
