Wreaths Across America will host a ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday. The public wreath laying will take place at 10 a.m.

Lake View Cemetery, an official Wreaths Across America (WAA) location, will host a wreath-laying ceremony, joining more than 4,225 other locations across the country to honor our fallen service members laid to rest there.

National Wreaths Across America Day is led by the Seattle Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), volunteers and sponsorship groups who have raised funds for the placement of 500 veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of these fallen service members. Each also served in every engagement since the U.S. Civil War. This annual event furthers the year-long mission - Remember, Honor and Teach - ensuring that the memory of those who served our country endures.

The ceremony will feature:

They educate citizens about principals of democracy, fostering patriotism and preserving American history. Seattle became the first local chapter in 1895.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, which was begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s yearlong mission – Remember, Honor, Teach – is carried out in part each year with wreath-laying ceremonies in all 50 states and beyond.
