Celebrate Pride month with The Seattle Public Library, where everyone belongs! Enjoy a Pride dance party, visit with at PrideFest or wave in the Seattle Pride Parade. Find some LGBTQ+ films, novels and poets to check out, and more.

The Library works with local organizations and community members to offer programming for Seattle’s many diverse communities, including LGBTQ+ patrons and allies, and to offer resources and build knowledge.

EVENTS FOR ADULTS

The Library is proud to participate in Seattle Pride 2023. Learn about the LGBTQ+ history of Pioneer Square, discuss how queer comedy transformed American sitcoms or grab a drink and win prizes at Pride trivia.

From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Pioneer Square’s LGBTQ+ History with Rosette Royale and Guests at the Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave.). Join local storyteller Rosette Royale and special guests to learn about and celebrate the queer history of Pioneer Square, exploring the locations that were significant to Seattle's increasingly visible LGBTQ+ community in the 1970s. Registration is not required.

From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 21. Pride Trivia at Optimism Brewery (1158 Broadway). Join LGBTQ+ Pride-themed pub trivia at Optimism Brewing Company. Registration is not required.

From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 29. Matt Baume discusses "Hi Honey, I'm Homo! Sitcoms, Specials, and the Queering of American Culture" at the Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave.). Join on a whirlwind tour through the best queer coming-out scenes in sitcom history! (And one or two of the worst.) Registration is required, but all Library events are free.


EVENTS FOR CHILDREN, FAMILIES

From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 8. Pride Family Dance Party at the Beacon Hill Branch (2821 Beacon Ave. South). Join in celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride at a family-friendly dance party. Wear fabulous colors and join for rainbow crafts, a story, and, of course, dancing! Everyone is welcome and activities are geared to kids ages 10 and under.

From 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13. Pride Story Time at the Douglass-Truth Branch (2300 E. Yesler Way). Bring preschoolers and toddlers to enjoy stories, singing, dancing and parachute-play.

From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17. Pride Family Dance Party at the Columbia Branch (4721 Rainier Ave. South). Join in celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride at a family-friendly dance party. Wear fabulous colors and join for rainbow crafts, a story, and, of course, dancing! Everyone is welcome and activities are geared to kids ages 10 and under.

From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 23. Pride Story Time at Capitol Hill Branch (425 Harvard Ave. East). Join in dancing, singing and enjoying stories. Stay afterwards to make a Pride-themed craft. Families of all ages are welcome, though this early learning program is intended for youth aged 0-5, their caregivers and families.


PRIDE CELEBRATIONS

From 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 23. The Library at Trans Pride. Join for this event that increases the strength of the transgender and gender diverse community through increased visibility, connection, love, and celebrating life. Library staff will be tabling the event with giveaways, Library card sign-ups and more.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 24. The Library at PrideFest. Library staff will visit PrideFest, including Family Pride (from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and Queer Youth Pride (from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.), at the Capitol Hill Station Plaza, with books, crafts, library cards and giveaways! PrideFest runs from noon to 9 p.m.; find a full schedule of events at www.seattlepridefest.org/schedule.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 25. 2023 Seattle Pride Parade. Join The Seattle Public Library and the Bookmobile as we march with the City of Seattle in the 49th annual Seattle Pride Parade in celebration with Seattle’s LGBTQ+ communities. The parade begins at Fourth Avenue and Pike Street and ends at Second Avenue and Denny Way. Visit http://seattlepride.org/ to see the parade route and full schedule of events.
