The Queen Anne Annual Tree Lighting was on Dec. 1 at the Town Square in Queen Anne. Christina Wright and Jeff Brennan provided the music for the evening and 12-year-old Max Chandrasekaran was the emcee for the event.
“It was really fun to see the community come out,” he said, “and the weather was so much better than the last few years!”
His soccer team, the Queen Anne Jaguars, was invited to come out and do the official countdown for the ceremony.
“QA Soccer loves being part of this community. We’ve been here for 55 years,” said Yarrow Banko, the President of Soccer Club Queen Anne.
And the community wished these kids luck for their upcoming city tournament.
Susan Short, the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce, thanked Amazon for sponsoring the event and Kelly Co Lighting for lighting the trees up all along the avenue. She also reminded neighbors that there are four community trees in the square. The trees, sponsored by Home Street Bank, Queen Anne Farmer’s Market, Vixen, and Wag N’ Wash, have tags with wish list items to support the Queen Anne Helpline, Coe Elementary School, Queen Anne Food Bank, and Saving Great Animals, respectively.
