Brian Varner died peacefully at his home in Magnolia after a two year battle with advanced prostate cancer. His loving wife Nancy and his beloved dog Zoey were at his side.
Brian was a Certified Master Clockmaker specializing in the repair and restoration of antique clocks. Many beautiful antique clocks in the Seattle area continue to keep time thanks to Brian’s skill and craftsmanship.
Brian began his career as a Master Clockmaker while still a resident of Colorado where he was born and raised. After graduation from a local junior college mental health worker program and obtaining his Colorado Mental Health Worker license Brian began to work with seriously mentally ill Colorado residents. Repair of antique clocks was initially his hobby. His hobby eventually became his vocation after study and apprenticeship with other Master Clockmakers eventually enabling him to qualify for Certification in 1979.
In addition to antique clock repair and restoration, Brian’s other interests included sports cars and music. He was a devoted jazz aficionado and audiophile.
Brian was lovingly cared for by his medical support team at UW Medical Hospital and the home hospice team at Evergreen Hospice.
Brian is survived by his wife, Nancy, sister, Pat Varner, and brother in law and sister in law, Ken and Janet Spanarella and many dear friends.
