Putt Cancer in the Hole on Sept. 13

Magnolia native Francie Warnekros’ fourth-annual Putt Cancer in the Hole mini-golf tournament will take place at the Interbay Golf Center (2501 15th Ave. W.) on Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature a putt-putt golf tournament and a raffle. Guests of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend and dress up in a superhero theme.

All donations and proceeds raised from the event will benefit the American Brain Tumor Association, to support education, research and awareness for brain-tumor diagnosis, treatment and care.

Tournament registration is open to both individuals and teams of up to six people. The cost of the tournament during pre-registration is $25 per adult and $20 per youth younger than 12 years old. Participants are encouraged to register in advance; the first 50 registered players will receive a free T-shirt. Online registration closes Sept. 11 at midnight.

Day-of registration is $30 cash or credit card.

Donations and registration costs are tax-deductible. To donate or register for the event, visit hope.abta.org/puttcancerinthehole.

Warnekros initially created the event as a community project while participating in the Self-Expression and Leadership Program through Landmark Worldwide in 2011. After her mother passed away from a brain tumor in 1991, Warnekros decided to put on a lighthearted event to to help support families affected by cancer.
