Queen Anne Italian eatery Sorrentino has been completely redone to to restart the New Year.
The newly-christened Enza opened last week, complete with an all-new Sicilian menu and redecorated interior.
Named after the owner and chef, Enza Sorrentino, the restaurant will offer dishes that best represent Sorrentino's native Sicily. The simplified menu will change every three weeks and allows customers to choose from four pasta dishes ($10-12), two entrees ($13-15), and one soup ($4-7).
Noticeably absent from the menu will be the appetizers and desserts. Instead, there will be an "appetizer table" set up in the center of the restaurant with an ever-changing array of items: gorgonzola with pear jam and pine nuts, Pecorino Romano with apple jam and walnuts, prosciutto di Parma on breadsticks with cantaloupe, cacciatorino Italian salami with green onions and grilled garlic, and mortadella on housemade bread with green olives.
All of these pre-meal bites are available for a fixed price ($10). Diners can also enjoy a complimentary Palermitan street food specialty called panelle, which is a Sicilian fritter made with chickpeas and cooked fresh.
Those with a sweet tooth will receive a free hot chocolate at the end of their meal and will be able to choose from a bevy of desserts ($5-7) on a cart, changed daily.
The interior will be softened a bit with newly-painted walls and the addition of a piano. A piano player will help set the ambience on Friday and Saturday nights.[[In-content Ad]]
