The Bouncing Wall, the popular boutique that reaped praise in regional and national media outlets is closing.
Owner Kim Flanery-Rye will close the doors May 31. Manager Drea Hildebrandt said Flanery-Rye's desire to be with family, and the slow economy, prompted the decision. Two of the store's employees also have their own projects they want to pursue and Hildebrandt is having a baby in August.
Bouncing Wall will now be an online boutique. It will also host occasional shop socials featuring local artists and at varying locales.
Bouncing Wall was voted one of the best gift shops in Seattle by "Evening Magazine" and one of the cool places to visit in Seattle by national magazine "Cookie." The store featured clothing, accessories, home goods, bath and body products and art from local artists.
Late last year the store partnered with ArtWorks, a program dedicated to providing art as an outlet for troubled teens. Flanery-Rye gave discounts to customers who brought in art supplies for ArtWorks.
Hilltop Yarn and Needlepoint Shop will move from its Craftsman mansion across the street and into Bouncing Wall's space.[[In-content Ad]]
