Police Blotter 6/10

HOME SOUR HOME

On W. Blaine, a resident in her 60s has spent years being harassed by a neighbor and adult son who complain about a property line.

Even though the line has been marked on sidewalk, street, and yard - and though the victim's gardeners (very aware of the situation) take special care to stay off the neighbor's property, the woman and son continue to yell and cause a fuss. The son has allegedly shoved the victim in the past (the officer states the victim is "elderly and frail from cancer") and has occasionally moved her garbage cans into the middle of the driveway to block her path.

When the victim recently went out to tell them to leave the gardeners alone, the female suspect (in her 70s) reportedly stuck out her tongue and made "Nyah Nyah" sounds. An officer stopped by to talk to the suspects, and he reports that the woman "immediately interrupted me and spoke over me" and proclaimed that the victim is a paranoid schizophrenic. The suspect kept "chatting about random things" and wouldn't answer questions. The officer warned that neither she nor her son should speak to or bother the victim or her gardeners. He also took care to tell the suspect one other thing: Based on his years of crisis training, the victim showed no signs of being a paranoid schizophrenic.

NICO KLEPTO

Around 4:30 a.m. on May 26th, a man walked into a convenience store on Denny Way and asked to buy five packs of cigarettes. After the clerk placed them on the counter, the man asked for five more. As the clerk turned away, the suspect grabbed the smokes and ran.

BAD CHARGES

A resident of 6th W isn't quite sure how it happened, but someone got hold of his credit card (which he hadn't used for four months) and charged $1,600 worth of goods. The card has since been cancelled.

Lost

On Tuesday the 26th, a construction manager on a project at 3rd W and W Prospect saw a man rummaging through a tool-storage bin in an alley adjacent to the site. The man sped off in a white SUV and took a $500 mitre saw along for the ride.

On Friday May 22nd, a manager at a video store on 32nd W noticed that someone had stolen 20 blu-ray discs from a rack near the front door.

On May 22nd, in the 1400 block of 1st Ave. W, a man discovered that someone had stolen his bike from a condo storage area and his suitcase from the backseat of his car.

Found

On Friday May 22nd, a woman walked into a 15th Ave. business and turned in two US passports she had found at a nearby bus stop.

Down

Late Saturday, a man called 911 to report that his friend had overdosed on cocaine and heroin. When medics arrived at the apartment in the 600 block of Queen Anne Ave. N they found the victim slumped on the floor. They were able to stabilize her and transport her to Harborview. Officers saw no signs of drugs or paraphernalia at the residence.

Another alert friend

On Tuesday, when her former coworker-a Queen Anne resident-called to say, "it was nice knowing you," and that she planned to slit her wrists, a woman called 911. The victim was despondent after being laid off. Officers found her in an agitated state and had her transported to Harborview for an evaluation. The woman mentioned that she was out of her anti-depressant medication but couldn't afford a refill.

Chaser

On Wednesday evening, medics transported a teen female to Harborview after she chased a bottle of anti-depressants with a jug of water--or bleach-the witness wasn't sure which.

Didn't see a thing

Monday evening around 10 p.m., 911 received many calls about an erratic and threatening man blocking traffic and hitting car windows at Queen Anne Ave. N @ W. McGraw.

Officers found the man a block south of there but according to the report, "none of the many pedestrians in the area stated they were witnesses."

One man who had been threatened refused to cooperate with officers-would neither identify himself nor confirm that the suspect was indeed the correct person because he, "didn't want the subject to get into any 'trouble.'" Lacking any cooperative witnesses, the officers gave the suspect a courtesy transport his destination of choice: the north end of the Ballard Bridge.

High-flying fraud

On Wednesday, a merchant on 15th NW was going over the bills and discovered that someone in the state of Georgia had used her company's credit card number to charge two tickets for travel on Delta Airlines. Loss: $1,700.

Threats

Operators at a state agency on W. Harrison have been on the receiving end of some threatening phone calls. The person on the other end of the line isn't specific, but states that it will be a pleasure to watch the news and see both the employees-and the building-blown up.

Parking enforcers

When she returned to her parked car after setting up a Folklife booth, a woman discovered that someone had shattered her front windshield and taped a piece of cardboard over the vehicle's fuel filler cap. Employees of a nearby store had left a note on the woman's car, asking her to back up a few feet so that they could have access to their garbage cans, but they had no knowledge of who did the damage.

Concerns pooh-pooh'd

A resident of 9th Ave. W has not been able to convince the courts to provide a restraining order against a neighbor despite what she claims is ongoing harassment. In the most recent incident, on May 24th, she returned home to find her doorknob smeared with dog feces. In addition, a palm leaf with dog droppings was left at her front door
