Say Hello To My Little Friend

Police responded to the 1900 block of First Avenue West in Queen Anne at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 after receiving reports of a man displaying a handgun. Police spoke with the victim who was highly intoxicated. He said he had been down at the intersection of First Avenue and Stewart Street giving some blankets to a homeless man when he was approached by an unknown man who began to argue with him. The two exchanged words for a couple of minutes.

Soon after two other males joined the first and tried to get him to walk away. Once they were able to convince him to leave, they began walking north. When he was about half a block away the man pulled out a gun, described by the victim as a blue semi-automatic handgun, and waved it in the air.

The man never pointed the gun or threatened the victim directly with it, and the other males quickly covered it as they continued to walk away. Police note that it was hard to get the story from the victim due to him being extremely drunk. An area check for the suspects produced no results.

Scared Burglar

A Magnolia man called police at about 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 9 after discovering that sometime overnight somebody had entered his apartment located in the 3800 block of 36th Avenue West. The burglar first entered through the unlocked front door and took the man's car keys. The culprit then unlocked the car, which was parked in front of the apartment, and took two sets of keys from the glove box and $50 worth of quarters.

The burglar left the car doors standing wide open, he also left the man's television remotes in the car and the big screen TV unplugged but still attached to the wall in the apartment. Police believe the burglar planned to take the TV along with the car, but got spooked and fled the scene.

Interrupted Burglary

A couple returning from shopping at 2:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 interrupted a burglary in process in their home. They walked in the front door and saw the first suspect standing at the top of the stairs leading to the back door. The suspect bolted out the door, and a second man, who had been running up the basement stairs, also ran outside behind the first burglar.

One of the victims attempted to chase the culprits down, but was not fast enough as both of them were out of the yard and up over a fence before the victim was outside. The second victim called 911 while the first was chasing down the suspects.

While escaping, one of the burglars dropped a pillowcase containing a laptop, change and two cameras. They did get away with two rings. The suspects got into the house by kicking in the back door, causing it to completely shatter.

Police searched the area for the burglars, but were unable to find them.

The upstairs bedrooms were hit the hardest in the ransack. Dresser drawers and cabinet doors were open, and items were strewn about. One of the men placed one hand on his hip and the other hand on the clerk. He then announced that he had a gun and that he would shoot the clerk if he didn't do what he said. He told the clerk to open the cash register. The clerk complied, and gave the suspects an undetermined amount from the register and the store's drop safe. The robbers then fled southbound on Dexter.
