News hires reporter

Pacific Publishing Co., the parent company of the Queen Anne News and Magnolia News, has hired Jessica Van Gilder as its general reporter.

Van Gilder graduated with a degree in journalism and creative writing from Seattle University, where she was the managing editor of the school newspaper The Spectator.

She spent four years with The Spectator designing pages and writing about budget issues, the university's move to Division I sports and on the housing crunch on campus and outlying areas.

An award-winning writer, Van Gilder is looking forward to writing stories for each of the Pacific Publishing newspapers, including the Queen Anne News, Magnolia News, the Capitol Hill Times, South Seattle Beacon, the North Seattle Herald-Outlook and the company's bi-weekly magazine City Living.

"It's really exciting," Van Gilder said. "It's a great opportunity for a graduating student to enter the journalism field in such a crucial time."[[In-content Ad]]
