The owner of Magnolia’s Mondello Ristorante has announced he is holding a special brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2 in honor of his general manager, Michael Todd Smith, who has suffered injuries from a motorcycle accident.
Smith, who had only been the manager for the restaurant for about two months, suffered a number of injuries and broken bones in the accident recently while riding on the Olympic Peninsula when he failed to negotiate a curve.
Smith, who has no health insurance coverage, has already gone through two surgeries and is expected to need a third. Mondello owner Corino Bonjrada said the brunch is free, but at the end of the meal, he hopes that those attending will donate to help cover Smith’s extensive health care costs. There is also an account in Smith’s name at the Magnolia branch of People’s Bank for those who would like to donate. For those who would like to attend the event, call for reservations at 206-352-8700.
