This year's Magnolia Village Car Show proved to be a smashing success, raising about $1,400 in donations for Northwest Harvest.
Eric Berge, owner of Queen Anne's Werner's Car Shop and the organizer of this year's event, said that car enthusiasts of all types parked about 58 different automobiles along the streets of Magnolia Village for the one-day event that was held on Saturday, Aug. 21.
Berge, who grew up in Magnolia, said that he knew many of his neighbors were passionate about their cars and working on special automobiles in their garages, but he was surprised by the quality and variety of the turnout.
"We opened the car show up to anyone who wanted to display their car," Berge said. "We weren't looking for muscle cars or classic autos from the 1930s. It was a chance to meet your neighbors and find out what kinds of cars they are into. As one neighbor put it, it was a chance to let the cars out and breathe a little bit."
The cars on display ranged from souped up jalopies to vintage classics. Berge says that one car enthusiast even brought his 1968 Mustang convertible all the way from Portland for the show.
This was the third year that Berge has helped organize the event and he said it was such a major success he is definitely planning to continue the event next year.
He vowed that in 2011, he was going to try and coax his old boss, Werner Kozber, into displaying his vintage Mercedes Benz or Messerschmitt models at the show.[[In-content Ad]]
