Puccini, a friend of many in Queen Anne, left the hill for a higher place of peace.
His life was big and so was his heart. He loved Queen Anne and his daily walks to the Ave. As a resident of QA for almost 11 years, he knew everyone and was known for his distinguished profile. He had an under bite, which exposed one bright shiny fang, giving him a signature look. It often inspired people to push their teeth out to imitate him. People called it making the P-face.
Puccini was born in 1993 on the side of the road in California and was rescued by a group of Beverly Hill socialites. They promptly elevated him and the litter of seven to prime time TV celebrity status. He was spotted on the news, adopted and adored by Lauren Formicola, and she shared him with everyone. As a young pup, he won "Dog most likely to stand out in a crowd" in the WestMuttster Dog competition.
Puccini loved being the center of attention and was known for his many fashionable looks. He sported a Rigeletto costume fashioned by the Santa Fe Opera. Always athletic, Puccini won the Purina Fit and Trim contest and he was a confident Fly Ball dog. This adventuresome little guy of 16 pounds also lived in Marina Del Rey, (where he learned how to play Frisbee), Chicago, (a town that demanded cool but warm sweaters), and New York, (where the cab drivers let him sit in the front seat and hold on for dear life). He loved living in Seattle, where he found more friends, dodgey squirrels, and finally peace.
He is survived by many friends and admirers. A shout out "woof" to ACT Theatre who let him run the ramps and attend opening parties. Jan, Sabrina, Tara and Mercedes at Queen Anne Mail & Dispatch always gave him a warm welcome. Cindy, Patty, Tegan and the Queen Anne Bookstore staff appreciated his fine taste in literature. Jeannie of Video Isle had the magic touch to sooth his aging bones, a big day included biscuits and a massage from Kelly at 5 Corners Hardware. Thanks to A & J Meats for all the roast beef a little man could eat, and pets from Gordie, Big Guy (Joel) , Brandie, and Rick. Puccini loved to saunter over to McCarthy and Schiering Wine Merchants for a sip of water served in a Riedel glass by Dan himself. He is remembered by his loyal fans: Karen the Pet Au Pair, Barbara Lee, John Fig, Steve Coulter, John Roby, George Latchford and his companion and cook for 16 years, Lauren Formicola.[[In-content Ad]]
