Esther Leonard, resident of Queen Anne and Ballard, died Dec. 4, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. Born in Garden City, Kan. in 1914, Esther worked as a registered nurse in Kansas, Wyoming, Utah and California. She moved to Queen Anne in 1987 and participated in many community activities. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Poulsen and Mary Poulsen-House; grandchildren Kirsten Marie Poulsen-House and Christopher Zukos; niece Karen Sue Walker in Kansas, Bodil Geneser and Paul A. Underbjerg, niece and nephew in Denmark; many friends and all the children who called her 'grandma.' Ms. Leonard was passionate about animals and the family asks that any remembrances be made in her name to the Humane Society. A memorial will be held in Seattle, Jan. 22.[[In-content Ad]]
