Ted worked as a bartender at Place Pigalle in the Pike Place Market, Pier 70, the Brotherhood, Lafourno's and Fools Gold bars and owned and operated Fort Courage on Boston Street. He could draw a crowd with his love and knowledge of sports, music and the industry and keep them laughing with his sharp wit and love for fun. Ted also worked at Western Pioneer as a Longshoreman and Deckhand, and for many years as a Trade Show Specialist and member of the Pacific Northwest Carpenter's Union. His co-workers were entertained by his passionate debate and commentary about politics and other subjects and said "If you don't like Ed there's something wrong with you." Others said "he was the kind of guy who just made you laugh." Ted played sports with a supernatural ability. He was the Quarterback, Pitcher, Third Baseman, Pool Shark Pingpong Wizard and Strike King. He played it all and loved every minute. He witnessed unspeakable things as a pointman in Viet Nam, but thrived, despite deep wounds that never healed, due to his love for life and Alpha Dog personality. Daughter Sofie believes that he is the best Dad EVER and a spoiler. Grandson, Alfino Roberson, born 2008, was Ted's biggest passion.
