Queen Anne church helps with disasters

When severe flooding became a crisis in western Washington in January, the local Scientology Disaster Response team provided help to business owners and residents in Snohomish and Duvall.

Scientology Disaster Response Director Dave Scattergood coordinated 100 volunteers to help in that clean-up effort and much assistance was provided by other area schools, churches and individuals.

"Our church in Queen Anne has had the privilege over the last two months of helping Snohomish and Duvall families and business owners who were affected by severe flooding in those areas," said Ann Pearce, a church member. "Undoubtedly there will be a need for further disaster response in our area and more volunteers will be needed."

Last weekend, Scattergood's team helped with a clean-up at a farm/sawmill in Maltby. The 40-acre property had been under 6-8' of water, and wood from the mill had been displaced and was put back in order by the volunteer ministers on site.

More volunteers are needed for future disaster relief work and training is available.
