Divided we fight-mostly ourselves

There are many clear divisions in American life.First, there are the red states, where all abortion is a sin and any Middle Eastern country a Republican president says is bad and dangerous is bad and dangerous, and God flies on Christian One, no ifs ands or buts, and don't bring that turn the other cheek, meek shall inherit the earth, weak Jesus stuff in here, evn if He is supposed to be God's son. The signs of spring are here

Ramblings

It got to be spring the other day. I'm not talking about a specific date on the calendar, but when you begin to wake up to the calliope of birdsong and a lightening sky and not to the screech of an alarm clock at oh dark hundred hours. Also, it's not quite as cold.

Spring chill and then...

Notes from the garden

In spite of the cool temperatures, Spring is rapidly unfurling its tender new growth these days. I love this point in Springtime for all of its fragile tentativeness. The great bunches of bright yellow daffodils catch our eye. The forsythia blooms remind us of that golden orb we so long to see, but which so often these days remains hidden behind grey clouds. And then the new pink and white cherry and plum blossoms showing such great fortitude and beauty in the face of brittle cold temperatures and occasional brutish squalls.
