New fees on hold at Terminal

The Port of Seattle's plan to charge owners of boats moored at the West Wall for selling fish and value-added products such as smoked salmon at Fishermen's Terminal is on hold. Originally set to take effect on Jan. 1, the new policy has changed, as well.

Gregoire: Replace Viaduct with tunnel

It's official. The Alaskan Way Viaduct, which since 1953 has been the route of choice for tourists, workers, truckers and sports fans, will be torn down as Gov. Christine Gregoire, King County officials and city officials, have opted for a deep bore tunnel replacement, which is expected to open up the waterfront to more development and entertainment at a cost of $4 billion.

Shelve suicide fence

That the Washington State Department of Transportation is moving full steam ahead on a $6.74-million suicide barrier for the Aurora Bridge, in such a weak economy and after at least one community group (the Queen Anne Community Council) opposed the idea outright, is just wrong.
