To that bucolic mix the city has added video surveillance cameras.A story last week in The Seattle Times described how three video cameras had been installed in Cal Anderson Park in February, figuratively under the cover of night. The city said the cameras would help the city and police keep the park safer given the drug and loitering issues the park faces.

Survival of what fits, a miscellanyIt's a joy to poke fun at Jean Godden and others of her ilk who have made a living writing columns full of bulletined non-news items such as 'Mayor Nickels seen at buffet with third plate' or 'Bumper sticker seen on Lake Union Trolley (but no passengers).'

I've stated before that I'm a news junkie, an inveterate watcher of TV news, reader of newspapers, and an online zombie with email news flashes coming from our local papers as well as the New York Times, Boston Globe, and Washington Post.
