Seattle Opera names John Keene new chorus master

John Keene has been named Seattle Opera’s new chorus master, beginning with the 2013-14 season. Keene made his company debut in October 2012 as guest chorus master for “Fidelio.” 

Senior Resource Fair set for Feb. 25

The Queen Anne Community Center (1901 First Ave. W.) will host a Senior Adult Resource Fair on Feb. 25. Seattle Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the event. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with live entertainment and a free lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes vendors, free blood-pressure checks and raffle drawings every 15 minutes.

Watching one season's end, waiting for another

Over the years, I have watched Super Bowl telecasts in my home, in other people’s homes, in a rented “party room” at the old Tropics Motor Inn and at bars in Belltown, downtown, Wallingford, the University District, Pioneer Square and Capitol Hill.
