During this 50th Anniversary of the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair  —  "Century 21" — frequent articles have memorialized the Fair and its background.  Many have referred to Alfred J Schweppe, a prominent lawyer and former University of Washington Law School dean, who played a role as civic watchdog regarding certain actions leading up to the Fair, particularly those related to the conversion of the 1928 Civic Auditorium into the Opera House (now McCaw hall).  There's been little note however of Schweppe's main opponent, A.C.Van Soelen, Seattle's long serving, elected city attorney.
