Taxi RobberA taxi driver called 911 after being robbed by a passenger on Highland Drive in Queen Anne on Sunday, Dec. 19. Police arrived at the scene at 12:41 a.m., they met the taxi driver in the 500 block of Queen Anne North.The taxi driver said he had picked the passenger up at this location, and had driven him around the Queen Anne neighborhood. After asking the driver to turn onto Highland Drive from Queen Anne Avenue North and stop, the passenger said, "This is a robbery, give me all your money!"

With the Queen Anne Community Center's very existence hanging in the balance, Queen Anne Community Council members weren't sure where their next meeting would take place.

As a result of challenging budgets, Seattle Parks and Recreation has been asked by the City Council to re-think how community centers are operated. This process will include public meetings to discuss with the community ideas for how centers can be run differently. The first public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave. E, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

The Gun ShowAfter receiving a 911 call that a man wearing a fedora and a trench coat had pulled a gun on a security officer, police arrived at the intersection of First Avenue North and Thomas Street at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1.Police spotted the suspect, who apparently is a lone mobster, walking into the Seattle Center grounds from Thomas Street. They stopped the man and found a fully loaded 40-caliber Beretta semi-automatic handgun in his belt holster.The security officer positively identified the man, and then told police he had attempted to escort the man out of his business when he pulled the gun on him.
