Marital mayhemA Magnolia man called police on Sunday, Nov. 14 after receiving a text message from his estranged wife saying she was in his house. The man said he and his wife have been married for 14 years, and are going through a messy divorce.

Not much to stealPolice responded to a reported burglary at a house in the 2300 block of Eighth Avenue West at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 21. Upon arrival the responding officer spoke with the homeowner, who said the house's current tenant was in the process of moving out. The tenant had last been in the house on Nov. 11, and when he returned today at 9 a.m. he found the front door unlocked and a rear window removed.Inside the house some boxes had been moved around, but the tenant didn't believe anything had been taken.

Queen Anne Lacrosse ClubThe Queen Anne Lacrosse Club has open roster spots for both third and fourth-grade team and fifth- and sixth-grade team. Lacrosse is a fast, exciting sport - fun to play and fun to watch. No prior lacrosse experience necessary. The Queen Anne program is one of the oldest and most successful youth programs in the state. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays at Queen Anne Bowl, games are on Saturdays. Practices start in February, games begin March 12 and last through May 21. William Cumming and other matters

A great local artist died last week. William Cumming, the most underappreciated member of the famous Northwest School which included Mark Tobey, Morris Graves and Cal Anderson, passed on Nov. 22. Cumming was 93.

City needs to help Queen Anne Chamber, Alliance find new locations

The Queen Anne Magnolia Neighborhood Service Center at 160 Roy St. will be shuttered in January. That means the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce and the Uptown Alliance, which have been using the service center as their headquarters must relocate. Since it was the mayor who proposed the cuts that is forcing the move, then the mayor's office should help them by finding available city-owned space.
