2009: A year in review

A lot has happened since Jan. 1, 2009. Seattle's local government changed hands when Mayor Greg Nickels was ousted from his two-term service by grassroots campaigner, and mayor-elect, Mike McGinn. This year also said goodbye to the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush. President Barack Obama has been in office for nearly a year and McGinn's about to officially embark on his role as mayor.

For the past seven years, Serka has set up a tree lot in the Discover Wellness Center, 3655 34th Ave. W., and donated 20 percent of his profits to charity. This year, Serka donated to Children's Hospital.
