Political Analysis

To an extent we haven't seen in at least a generation, nobody - really, nobody - knows what to expect from Seattle's new mayor.

Taproot Theatre announces new holiday production

New play, new location, but the show will go on

Taproot Theatre's annual holiday production will go on despite the Oct. 23 fire. Taproot Theatre brings the hit play It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play back to the stage as it holds its holiday production at the Stage One Theatre at North Seattle Community College. Unable to find a venue that could accommodate the world premiere of John Longenbaugh's Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol, Taproot Theatre brings back one of the most popular Christmas plays in its history. Adapted for the stage by Joe Landry and directed by Karen Lund, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play runs November 27 through December 30, with a pay-what-you-can performance on November 25. There are no preview performances.

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all

Editorial 11/25

The Ballard Food Bank is serving 30 percent more people this Thanksgiving compared to this time last year. The Queen Anne Helpline is busy partnering with several organizations, schools and churches to drum up donations, all the more harder to come by in this difficult economy. The Helpline has also distributed $750 in food gift cards, courtesy of Queen Anne Rotary, and has distributed grocery vouchers to families in need. The Helpline will also be receiving donated coats from Skookum Clothing.

Nov. 4), I was disappointed with his use of tired lines, finger-pointing, and clichés about Washington being bad for business, legislators' and governor's priorities being labor unions that stuff funds into their campaign chests, and that we're driving Boeing out of the state.

Mom memories on Thanksgiving

Ramblings

Back when I was just a tyke, it always seemed that Thanksgiving Day preparations started at least two weeks before the fourth Thursday in November.
