A mild recommendation for Eastwood's 'Changeling'

At 78, Clint Eastwood still knows how to tell an engrossing tale. After helming several standard cop flicks throughout the late '90s (most notably "Absolute Power"), he rose to sudden prominence as a director with serious chops with the Oscar-nominated "Mystic River" and Oscar-winner, "Unforgiven."

Remember, remember the fifth of November

Linda of London

So goes the old rhyme:"Remember, remember the fifth of November;Gunpowder, treason and plot;I see no reason why gunpowder treason;Should ever be forgot."

The Right Side

Obama and media both one-sided, hypocritical

The media thinks his reign has begun already, but Sen. Obama's coronation will have to wait until the votes are counted and that has not started as of this writing.

You gotta start now to get in

By the time you read this, the election, thank Gaia, will be over. (Unless, of course, Gregoire and Rossi wind up in court for six months again. I'd rather have tickets to the UW-WSU football game this year.) We will have a new president-elect, the robocalls and offensive TV ads (at least the political ones) will stop, and with any luck Tiny Fey can go back to "30 Rock" full time.

A new era begins - with us

We now have picked a new president. You already know who it is, though as of our press time, the polls were still open. So be it Obama or be it McCain, the country has decided and the country will continue to recover.

Park On: Obama's Main Street

It's official. Barack Obama is our man. After nearly two years of following websites like The Huffington Post, CNN, and yes, even Fox News, there's a sense of loss. Now that the election is over and we wait for President-elect Barack Obama to take office, what do we do now?

HSM

In Magnolia

The Magnolia United Church of Christ will "bop-to-the-top." The next two months, dozens of kids will take to the stage in The Magnolia Theater's current production, "High School Musical: On Stage!"

Not quite a lullaby

Life and music of Brahms and Schumann comes to Queen Anne

The average person is likely to think of Johannes Brahms as the gentle soul who penned the ubiquitous lullaby and other gentle melodies. You wouldn't have pegged the bushy-faced composer to be madly in love with Robert Schumann's wife, Clara. Nor would the average person know all the wonderful things he did, in spite of his aching heart, to help that musically charmed family beset by tragedy.
