The following is the menu for Seattle Public Schools' elementary students. All breakfasts include toast, fruit, juice and milk. Lunches include vegetables, fruit and milk. Alleged gambling club raises concern with Hillman City residents

HILLMAN CITY - When Michael Brown, Hillman City resident and landlord for the past 20 years, leased his building to Phong Tong to open a café and deli, he said he was excited about the idea of having a restaurant in the neighborhood. Now, four weeks later, that excitement has turned to frustration as complaints that Tong is letting patrons smoke inside his café and allegations that the café is a front for illegal gambling begin to surface.

June 1 memorial to celebrate life of South End artist, activist Selma Waldman

On April 16, Rainier Valley artist Selma Waldman died of cancer. She was 77 years old and left a body of work that embraced her life as an activist continually striving for peace and justice.

Groper arrest allows for guarded feeling of relief in the South End

South Precinct officers have arrested Darin L. Bolar for sexually assaulting a 42-year-old Asian woman on May 17. The victim, who has still not been identified, was walking with a 2-year-old child in the 7500 block of Renton Ave. S. at the time of the assault.

Reflecting on Memorial Day

Thinking about people who have died, this past Memorial Day I found myself reminiscing over a peculiar conversation between my son, Clayton, and his friend Michael 18 years ago.The two were 4 years old when Michael's grandmother passed away.
