Relief and recovery: Local benefit concert to raise funds for amputee

For more than 27 years Debbie McMichael has devoted her life to helping those around her. For the first time, her role has drastically changed. The 47-year-old First Hill resident was diagnosed at age 10 with Type 1 Diabetes. A little more than one month ago, doctors removed her right foot after a long battle with Charcot Foot, a bone-deformation condition found in many diabetes sufferers.

It's been more than a week since the decomposing body of former KIRO-radio talk show host Mike Webb was found under a tarp in a concealed crawlspace in the basement of the Queen Anne rental home off Third Avenue West where he lived.

SDOT is promoting Uptown trip reduction

Uptown (a.k.a. Lower Queen Anne) holds a distinction that the Seattle Department of Transportation would like to see disappear. At 41 percent, the neighborhood has the highest rate in the city of people driving alone in their vehicles, according to Peg Nielsen from SDOT.

Eva Taylor, a resident of Magnolia and a member of the Class of 2008 at Providence College in Rhode Island, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester. To qualify for the list, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade-point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

A lot of Upper Queen Anne residents found themselves without electricity on a hot Monday afternoon, July 9, after a truck sheared a utility pole from its base. The locus was Crockett Street and Queen Anne Avenue North, and the Ave was closed down for several hours - along with many refrigerators, air conditioners and home entertainment centers.

Development plans on Elliott irk nearby condo owners

Real estate mogul and Magnolia resident Martin Selig has big plans for the site of the former Westfarm Foods and Darigold building at 635 Elliott Ave. W.Too big, say numerous residents of two condo complexes up the hill and in the 600 block of W. Mercer Place. The main sticking point is the 65-foot height of a two-building, four-story complex Selig wants to build.

Here are the finish times for Saturday's Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run & Walk, as supplied by Race Directions, the company handling race course logistics. The annual event is sponsored by the Queen Anne Helpline.Walkers set out at on the 3.3-mile course at 8 a.m. Twenty minutes later the runners took off.A couple of caveats: Not everyone who finished wore a nametag or handed a nametag to a race official at the finish line.
