William John Vorwerk passed away peacefully on the morning of May 3, 2012. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Madeline, and his two daughters Kim Berger (Lindy) and Andrea Giles (Mark). He loved and adored his grandchildren: Jennifer Gifford (Graham) Evan Berger (Katie), Amanda McCann (Russell), Brynn Braxton (Sean), Brett Berger (Jackie) and three great-grandchildren: Andrew, Joshua, and Keisha.
‘Bill’ was born in Seattle, attended Roosevelt High School (‘47) and graduated from the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. After college he served in the Army Corps of Engineers as a 2nd lieutenant. He then enjoyed a long career as a manufacturer’s representative and owner of Carlson Sales, Inc. During that time he was a member of EERA and the Electric League, where he served as president. He was a natural leader, known for both his thoughtful and careful decisions, and his generous heart.
Bill’s greatest memories were the times spent traveling with Madeline, and enjoying time with family at is home on Whidbey Island - fishing, playing board games, and grilling on the deck. He loved his church family at First Free Methodist, and counted many of those there as his closest friends.
Bill’s last gift to his family during his final hours was to encourage each of us, personally, with loving words, and to make sure we knew he was not afraid as he went to join his loving God.
A memorial will be held at the First Free Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 15 at 2:00pm, 3200 3rd Ave W. Seattle 98119.
