Vivian Miller went home to be with the Lord on July 3. She died peacefully after a brief illness at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She was 83 years old.
Ms. Miller was born in 1925 in Nashwalk, Minn. For nearly 60 years she lived and served the community of Magnolia. She was a long time member of the PTA, Garden Club, Bridge Club, and the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. On many Saturdays she could be seen going with her family to Husky Football games. Ms. Miller and her husband, Arnold, traveled as much as possible, making a trip to Europe and Scandinavia and extensively throughout the Northwest. She also loved to accompany her husband and family on many Washington hunting trips. Another of her great loves was the time spent with family and friends at the Crystal Mountain ski cabin.
She touched the hearts of many people throughout her life and brought joy to all she met.
Her involvement in her church was her passion. Ms. Miller was a very active member of many church groups and committees and welcomed many new members to the congregation of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. Her warmth and compassion was felt by all she met and the memory of her will sustain many hearts forever.
Another of her passions was teaching sewing to just about every girl in the neighborhood.
Even after 30 years, many of her former students continue to look back fondly at the times spent with her.
She also was a great influence on the many friends of her children. These friends, regardless of location and time spent away from her, always took time to ask about her and shared the memories she had given them. She was a second mother to many.
Ms. Miller is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arnold Miller, also by her children, Robert and Melinda, her daughter in-law Renee Miller, her two grandchildren Christopher and Isaiah and one great-grandchild, Sean Miller.
She is also survived by her brothers Richard and Willis. One person who always had a very special place in her heart was her niece Wendy Pierce. Wendy was like a second daughter and the two of them had a very special bond.
Funeral services will be held for Ms. Miller at 10 a.m., Saturday Oct. 18, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension at 2330 Viewmont Way W. in Magnolia.[[In-content Ad]]
