Two youths arrested in church arson fire

Two juvenile suspects were arrested on March 23 in connection with a March 13 arson fire at a Kirkland church.

The fire hit the Christians Gathered Unto the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ church, located at 8042 132nd Ave. NE, at roughly 1:45 in the afternoon. The cause of the fire has not been; an investigation by Kirkland Fire and Police departments, assisted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, continues.

According the Kirkland Fire Department, investigators want to speak with five youths approximately 14-15 years old who were seen walking south on 132nd Ave. N.E. in front of the church at roughly 1:30 p.m. on March 13.

The two suspects were released into the custody of their guardians.

Robin Paster, spokesperson with the Kirkland Fire Department, said the investigation involved a great deal of interagency cooperation and was ongoing.

A $10,000 reward will be paid by the Arson Alarm Foundation and Washington Insurance Council, for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who set the fire. Information may be phoned in to:
